Pectus Excavatum’s teachings. Pectus is a Superpower, or a curse… ELD 44

"A person is limited only by the thoughts that he chooses.” - As a Man Thinketh, by James Allen.

  1. Comparison and desire to look like others, when you are already you.

For the longest time I admired bodybuilders like Arnold, Steve Cook, Chris Bumsted… the list goes on. Endlessly consuming their content and wanting to one day look like them.

But little did I know, deep down the only path that would bring satisfaction is being the best version of me.

Constantly looking at people that had “normal” physiques always left me with a “guess i’ll never look like that…” feeling.

The truth is, it’s not about looking like them. Again, it’s about looking like the best version of myself. That's the only true worthwhile pursuit in the context of bodybuilding.

2. Pectus is actually a superpower.

What if their was a tool, a thing that forced us to look at ourself and accept who we are? The actual truth of who we are.

Having Pectus provides the opportunity for radical self acceptance or rejection. Just like a Jedi, we have the opportunity to choose the light or dark side.

Each day we have the opportunity for forge our thoughts in the direction of self acceptance. Acting from this place to bring forward a more fulfilling life where what you look like doesn't stop you from seeing how fucking good life is.

If we look at the facts of having Pectus, that it is simply a chest deformity that we did not choose, we also didn’t choose to be here, so we are still lucky.

Assuming your health is all good, it predominantly impacts us due to how we look… more often than not it’s because of shit that other people say.

Why do we give our happiness away to some randoms that say some stupid comment?

Fuck em.

We choose how we feel, we decide if other peoples comments impact us. Know how I know this? Because I used have people say shit about me and it sucked. And now I still do, but I’m deeply happy inside so it bounces off me.

At the end of the day the opening quote is the truth. "A person is limited only by the thoughts that he chooses.”

What do you choose?
