One of my fave quotes of late:
The reason this is so important to me is that I've had massive goals since I can remember, but never had a "system" or collection of habits to get me there. No fault of anyone but my own lack of education holding me back.
Implementing a system, habits and routine has profoundly changed my life.
After all, we can dream all we want but if we don't put in the required work and steps to get there thats all it is, a dream...
Q's to self:
It's nice to fantasise about the dream life and bla bla bla, but what am I actually doing about it. Do I have a system? Am I building daily habits around that dream for it to actually become a reality? For a long time the answer was NO.
So what now?
Again I can only speak on the systems I've had experience with, more specifically, the power-list. This incredible little tool, that requires discipline to execute and habit to maintain.
The power-list (shout out Andy Friscella) is a collection of 5 "critical tasks" that you must do each day, 5 needle moving tasks.
This visual helps understand this concept:
The deep truth is that each day we're presented a potential roadmap to our goals, either we complete the Critical Tasks, or we do random shit. Pushing out the potential of our goals.
Im now convicted that to reach our goals, we must define it and develop the system. The boat if you will (power-list), that will get us there. Cultivating discipline, pushing for personal excellence ensures you have the ability to execute the daily power-list / habits. These things are all perishable SKILLS getting stronger or weaker via each decision.
How bad do you want it?
At the end of the day, it completely depends if we actually want what we dream of, or if it's just a fun thought. Only daily execution (power-listing) will get me there. And that's why it's important to have an honest conversation with ourself to see if doing the daily work is actually what we want.
Like it or not, that IS part of the "dream."
Everything I write and make is writing to myself, these are the ideas that really work for me and increase my quality of life. But also, if I ever "fall off" I can see what I was doing when I was "on".
Let's grow!
Much love guys, thanks for stopping by.
