ELD 49. 3 Things People With Pectus Excavatum should be doing for overall health.

Here’s 3 things I’m convinced of that those of us with Pectus Excavatum should be doing on a daily basis to maintain and enhance our health:

  • Breathing / Breathwork

  • Movement & Mobility

  • Mindset & Meditation

More accurately I actually believe that all humans should participate in these on a daily basis, with or without Pectus.

Before we dive into the application and reasons behind these 3 practices, have a look at this image of a top down comparison of a regular (red) ribcage and heart / lung area, and a Pectus (blue) ribcage and heart / lung area:


I think we can agree that based of this simple comparison that having Pectus is probably not ideal for our heart and lungs. But thats where these 3 practices come in.

Specifically Breahtwork and Movement / Mobility.


  • Side effect management: Through intentional breathwork we can enhance our lungs capacity, which in turn mitigates the negative effects of having Pectus, or at bare minimum helps.


  • Unlocking heightened states of Consiousness: Specific breathwork practices help us tap into elevated states where it gives us the ability to see out current problems and life from a different perspective. Breathwork can help us see past the bullshit, the self limiting beliefs we trap ourself in. Especially the ones about Pectus and the limitations we perceive. Even if it is a limitation on our life, maybe it’s there to guide us on our true path and not a limitation at all.


  • Breathwork expands the ribcage and prevents the Pectus from developing further: sleeping on our back is an important component to this. Side sleeping compresses our Pectus making it worse over time.


  • Creating space for our heart and lungs: Through intentional breathing and movement we can open up space in our body and decrease the pressure we have on the vital organs. Movement and Mobility can create a more spacious feeling body and therefor Pectus will have less of a physical limitation. Again, having to engage in these practices is actually a blessing that without Pectus we may have otherwise never done.



Mindset and Meditation.

The most significant change we can make in our life, with or without Pectus, is in our mindset.

Developing this tool to see the truth behind having Pectus, that without it we potentially wouldn’t start training, wouldn’t be doing breathwork and elevating out life, we wouldn’t be learning about self-development and getting better.

It’s easy to assume that it’s only a curse, that it’s only bad. But that is simply not true. Having Pectus is the foundation for my deep connection to my body and it could also be yours.


What if you had one arm? What if you had no legs? What if you we’re never born at all? What if you had no hearing or sight?

Putting the truth into perspective is so crucial for us to step into a fulfilling life, and Pectus is simply an excuse because we are scared of what would happen if we truly stepped into the abundance life offers, and let go of part of our identity which is essentially a part of ourself. It's hard because the limiting version of ourself is perceived as safer than the unknown.


We can all find excuses as to why things are hard for us, or find reasons why things are good. Yes Pectus might suck, it does cause pain and compression on our main organs. But that’s not all, it also gives us a reason to become the person we need to be to chase our dreams.

Let’s not use Pectus as excuse to play it small in this life.
